"Working with HKSTPC is an experience that I will never forget. The staff was amazing; everyone was so nice. Having the opportunity of taking what I learned from college level courses in management and applying it to real job experience is essential. This internship allowed me to learn and take away new and improved skill sets that will benefit my future career as a business woman. Kristie Cheng, UC San Diego, Business Internship program in Hong Kong.
"The internship programme has certainly been one of the best experiences I have had. I am now ascertain that Cathay Pacific is somewhere I would love to return to work should I have the opportunity. I have managed to network well with the other interns, engineering trainees as well as work colleagues and staff whom have been very kind and helpful for the duration of my placement. I also participated in the badminton club, where I met more colleagues out with engineering as well as exploring the excellent sports facilities. This placement has been greatly beneficial for myself in understanding more about the dynamic aviation industry. Work and investigations have deepened my insight into my future work and career choice which is becoming more and more attractive. I feel the internship is definitely an amazing experience and very thankful Cathay Pacific has allowed me this opportunity. Jonny Mak, University of Glasgow, Aeronautical engineering Internship program in Hong Kong.

"I took part in a one month finance internship. The company's mail client base are wealthy Chinese investors looking for a diverse range of investment strategies in which to place their new wealth. Luckily I started work at the same time as another intern, so this was a great help throughout the time. We were first given the task of researching Regular Savings Plans and Investment Funds, which then led to us creating our own investment portfolios and ultimately a report to persuade clients to invest in our product. This assignment taught us a lot about long term investment strategies and risk management. We were given a number of other assignments throughout our time including creating reports to encourage Chinese investors to invest in the South of France, and some assignments that weren't strictly related to finance, such as a report about where and how to do business in Shanghai. One of the best parts of the internship was getting to work alongside another intern. Working under the guidance of the executive director of the company was also a great privilege. Because of this I hope to get a great reference from him that will be really helpful in the future. Overall I had a great internship experience and would recommend anyone looking for an insight of what it is like to work in finance, especially from a Chinese perspective. Alexander Palmer, Leeds University, Finance Internship program in Shanghai.
"The experience has definitely added value to my education and gave me an idea of what I want really to pursue as my career in the future. The internship allows me to explore my aspired career(i.e law)in depth by working with experts in a particular field of work. Very rewarding, informative programme which has long-term impacts on me academically and personally!. Sandy Cheung, University of Warwick, UK, Law Internship program in Shanghai.

"Next Step Connections did exactly what I wanted them to do: provide me with housing, an internship, and help with Visa forms and initial transportation. They even helped me with a cellphone and a metro card which were both extremely useful and something I wouldn't have been able to do on my own as I speak only basic Mandarin. The internship they set me up with was what I was looking for and I actually felt useful to the company, not just a coffee monkey. Overall I really enjoyed my stay here in Shanghai and I don't think I would have if not for Next Step Connections. Money well spent. " L.Dahl, Colorado College, Boulder, CO, Business internship.

"The internship programmes offered by Next Step Connections are second to none. The accommodation is exceptional, and the staff offer friendly, round the clock support. The internships themselves offer a level of responsibility that would be unthinkable in company in the United Kingdom, meaning one leaves ones host company with a real sense of achievement, safe in the knowledge that they have really had an impact on the business. Interns in Shanghai certainly play as hard as they work, and the events organised by Next Step Connections ensure that you meet plenty of like minded people to explore the nightlife with! My internship with SBR was without a doubt the best journalism-related experience I have had and I am so thankful I had the privilege to work there. I would recommend them to anyone wanting to come to China.". Matthew Hale, Kelley School of Business, USA. Law Internship in China.
"Next Step sets up everything from the internship, to accommodations, to field trips around China. All you have to do is show up and have a good attitude to truly enjoy everything Shanghai and the rest of China has to offer. Having hands on experience in China teaches you everything that the books and classes just cannot properly explain. There was a bit of culture shock (as expected) at first, but once you know your way around and learn a few important phrases in Mandarin, it's really hard to not want to participate in every single event and social gathering. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and helped me out whenever I had an issue. I lost my wallet within the first week and Next Step made all the arrangements necessary and even loaned me enough cash to get me through until I found it! Shanghai is the most exciting city I've been to and it's hard to leave once you've mentally stationed yourself here. I now wish I had stayed longer and would advise stays of three months or longer, an entire semester if you can. Also, take advantage of the Mandarin lessons; the more Chinese you know, the more fun Shanghai can be to foreigners." Logan Franey. San Diego State University, USA. Business Internship in China.
Being my first time in Shanghai i didn't know what to expect. But Next Step offered me a 360º service. When I arrived somebody was waiting for me, took me to my apartment, and gave me everything i needed to survive in Shanghai. First day of work at APSC was great, everything is so different in China that you just don't have time to stop and think about it. By the end of the month i really felt i was part of the team. Once i finish my studies, moving to Shanghai will definitely be an option to consider.Gonzalo Fernandes Dioniz, Universidad de Madrid Carlos III. Finance internship in Shanghai.
"It has been an amazing experience. While learning, the internship has broadened my mind and has helped me to develop some professional skills. At the same time, I have discovered a completely different culture and met very interesting people. Although I have only been two months in Shanghai, I feel I have friends there. I can not wait to go back." Daniel Molina Torres, Universidad de Madrid Carlos III, Finance Internship in China. (Background picture)
"Shanghai is a city not to be missed. Do not hesitate to come to Shanghai through Next step, which has been incredibly helpful and resourceful in various ways. Because of Next step, I had a fantastic 2 month-experience that might have changed the course of my life from now on." Duck-Ju Kang, Yale University, USA, Business internship in China.
"Next Step was great. Really made the experience fantastic. I think we realized how lucky we were upon talking to students from other internship programs; many had little, if any, contact with their organisation. I came to China with no knowledge of Mandarin but was able to thoroughly enjoy my internship because Next Step took the time to make the transition a smooth one. Next Step eliminated many of the transitional hassles by providing airport pick-up, escorting us to work our first day, introducing us to trendy hangouts, and being available for any problems. Moreover, the accommodations provided were first class and located in the heart of Shanghai. I would strongly recommend Next Step Connections for anyone looking to broaden their horizons through an internship in Shanghai. Next Step allowed me to focus on learning the culture, meeting new people, and gaining a better sense of a very different part of the world and for that I’m truly thankful." Branson McRae, Elon College of Law,USA, Law internship in China.
