Next Step Connection’s Annual Networking Event Contributes to the Community
Next Step Connections further integrated their global career development program for students with social responsibility leader Shanghai Roots and Shoots.
SHANGHAI (July 2010) — On June 24, 2010 Next Step Connections, China’s leading global professional education organization connecting students and international career development opportunities, held the company’s annual networking event in Shanghai. The evening, in partnership with Shanghai Roots and Shoots, served as a memorable experience with a theme of contributing to the community.
“Next Step Connections is a bridge for the global community. The internship experience not only furthers international career development, but also integrates students in the center of global expansion, Shanghai. By partnering with Shanghai Roots and Shoots, we hope to expand on the significant positive impact our programs have on the community around us,” noted Jerome Le Carrou, founder of Next Step Connections.
The Shanghai Roots and Shoots Million Tree Program was selected as the beneficiary charity and partner for the event, based on the organization’s vision and impact. The goal of the Million Tree Project is to plant one million trees by 2014. As of April 2010, 400,000 trees have been planted and have demonstrated an impressive survival rate of over 91%.
“The event that Next Step Connections held was awesome and I love that they collaborated with a charity like Roots and Shoots. It helps remind young people like me the importance of the environmental troubles that face our generation. “ said Michelle Chan, a Pepperdine Graduate student, Intern with Next Step Connections.
With the combined efforts of Next Step Connections and Shanghai Roots and Shoots, the event contributed nearly 200 trees to the deforested area of Kunlun Qi in Inner Mongolia. Over the course of its lifetime, each tree will clear the air of 250 kg of CO2. By 2014, Next Step Connections in partnership with Shanghai Roots and Shoots will offset over 50% of the CO2 produced by interns traveling to China.
