Why Shanghai?

NSC Housing in Shanghai

All of Next Step Connections student apartments are located in Puxi (West of the Huangpu River) in Xuhui and Huangpu Districts. All of our housing locations are within walking distance from the subway/bus stations making it convenient for interns to travel to and from their internships and home.

Next Step Connections housing includes concierge service, internet access, and cleaning service.

Participants will stay in a private room in a studio or in a shared apartment with other participants in different internships. The apartment includes a furnished kitchen, linen, bathroom, TV, air-conditioning.

For those who have already secured their own housing, or plan to stay with their family or friends at destination, we will be able to deduct a portion of your program fee.

Participants are always welcomed to call us during working hours from Monday to Friday. In addition, we have an emergency hotline and staff available 24/7 in case of an in-country emergency.

Safety in Shanghai

Shanghai is a very safe city. Petty crimes like pickpocketing do exist but violent crime is rare.

Next Step Connections works with a leading insurance provider offering unlimited medical expenses for injury, acute illness, and accident coverage for all student participants.

The insurance coverage is included for most of our programs. We also provide a separate service if you would like to purchase your travel insurance without participating in one of our program.

Visa formalities

China Business Visa (F)

To participate in our internship program in Shanghai, you will need to apply for a F-Business Visa

We will assist you during the process and provide you with all required documents and letters.

A business visa (F visa) is required to participate in an internship for up to 6 months. It is not permitted to get paid while on an F visa, this is why all our internships are unpaid.

Requirements
  • Applicant's passport with blank visa pages and at least 6 months validity left before expiration.
  • One truly completed Visa Application Form (Form V2011A).
  • One recent passport-size color photo stuck on the visa application form
  • An "Invitation Letter of Duly Authorized Unit" or "Confirmation Letter of Invitation" prescribing the visa validity, number of entries and stay period. (Provided by NSC)
  • Under some circumstances, the applicants may be required to submit a copy of housing reservation, return air ticket booking, and financial proof.
How to Apply

You can submit your application to the visa office of Chinese embassies or consulates by yourself, or entrust a visa agency to do so on your behalf.
