Economy: Often regarded as the center of Finance and trade in Mainland China. Shanghai hosts the largest share market in Mainland China and has one of the world's busiest port.
Culture: Birthplace of modern chinese cinema with director like Wong Kar Wai, but also modern literature and theater.
Transportation: Shanghai has a transportation system based on buses, trolleybuses, taxis and an expanding metro system. The first Maglev railway in the world was built in 2002 from Longyang station to Pudong International Airport (PVG). The 30 km trip takes 7 minutes and 21 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 431 km/h (267.8 mph)

Why Shanghai?
In this racing cosmopolitan city of 17 million inhabitants, the world falls at your feet. As China's most prominent pinnacle of modernism, change, and future stage of the 2010 World Expo., there are few cities which rival her promise of opportunity and excitement. Catapult yourself into the future; whether it be at 431kph on the Maglev Shanghai's original 'Bullet Train', or on one of her sweeping highways.
An evolving landscape :
After nightfall new buildings spring out of the city's fertile ground like mushrooms, whilst old concrete complexes are silently demolished. While doing your internship in Shanghai, you will become trapped too in her limbo between past and future. Witness developments unravel in front of your eyes as sky-scrapers climb in the space of months. Yet, turn a corner and meet unexpected peaceful residential areas still untouched from former decades, wet clothes hanging to dry from windows and curious smells from local food stalls. Turn yet another corner and be astounded by the stunning colonial architecture of the early twentieth century, when decadence and reveling set days and nights ablaze.
The magnetism that Shanghai exerts is impressionable. Caught in the headlights of the world both economically and culturally, Shanghai is without doubt a city in transit. Only from and to where precisely, we still don't quite know. Come, explore and join the experiment...
